PRÓLOGO
Las Hormigas caminan/bailan en fila por el escenario cargando un tronco largo (hecho de tela) pisando pesadamente al son de “16 toneladas” https://youtu.be/9NxC0r69Xgs
Los Moralistas y los Narradores toman sus lugares a ambos lados del escenario con los guiones. El segundo trabajo es ayudar a los actores si olvidan sus líneas.
El Maestro de Ceremonias camina hacia el centro del escenario seguido de su Aprendiz. Se inclinan ante los Moralistas, los Narradores y el Público.
Cuando el MC dice "¡Bienvenido!" el Aprendiz extiende sus brazos.
MC - ¡Bienvenidos Amigos, bienvenidos a nuestro Bosque! Para su entretenimiento hemos preparado historias inspiradas en el más famoso de todos los fabulistas, el inteligente Esopo, que vivió hace dos mil seiscientos años.
APRENDIZ - ¿Puedo decirlo?
MC - (Al Aprendiz) Todavía no. (A la audiencia) Su mensaje fue que asumiéramos la responsabilidad de nuestras acciones y usáramos nuestro sentido común.

A play in eight acts
PROLOGUE

The Moralists and the Narrators take their places on either side of the stage with the scripts. Their second job is to help the actors if they forget their lines.
The Master of Ceremonies walks to center stage followed by the Apprentice. They bow to the Moralists, to the Narrators, and to the audience.
When the MC says “Welcome!” the Apprentice spreads his/her arms as a welcome sign.
MC - Welcome Friends, welcome to our Forest! For your entertainment we have prepared stories inspired by the most famous of all fabulists, the clever Aesop, who lived two thousand six hundred years ago.
APPRENTICE - Can I say it?
MC - (To the Apprentice) Not yet. (To the audience) His message was to take responsibility for our actions and to use our common sense.
APPRENTICE - Can I say it?
MC - Yes! go ahead.
APPRENTICE - May the show begin!!
They spread their arms and back off in opposite directions, as if pulling at a curtain.
Chapter Two
The Performance

ACT ONE
Lion and Mouse
Actors: King Leo, Mouse, two Hunters
Props: A net (behind the tree), a feather
Mouse sees King Leo sleeping on the bench, finds a feather and tickles his feet
NAR ___ Mouse is having a grand time. She knows it’s dangerous but she loves to tease old King Leo. Leo is pretty laid-back for a lion, but Mouse is really getting on his nerves.
LEO - Stop that!
NAR ___ The more Leo gets nervous the more Mouse chases his tail. Finally…
NAR ___ …Inevitably the king, with one quick swipe, catches her by the collar.
MOUSE - So sorry, so sorry! Please let me go!
NAR ___ Leo looks at Mouse. He has his reputation to uphold. If word got out that he let her go, who would respect him?
LEO - I don’t think so.
MOUSE - Please! I promise never to tease you again!
LEO - No.
MOUSE - Why?
LEO - What would my subjects think?
ACTO UNO
León y Ratón
Actores: León, Ratón, dos cazadores
Atrezzo: Un neto (detrás de un árbol), una pluma
Mouse ve al rey Leo durmiendo, encuentra una pluma y le hace cosquillas en los pies
NAR ___ Ratón se lo está pasando en grande. Sabe que es peligroso pero le encanta molestar al viejo Rey Leo. Leo es bastante tranquilo para ser un león, pero Ratón está empezando a sacarle de quicio.
LEO - ¡Detente!
NAR ___ Cuanto más nervioso se pone Leo, más Ratón persigue su cola. Finalmente…
NAR ___ ...Inevitablemente, el rey, en un rápido movimiento, le agarra por el cuello.
RATÓN - ¡Lo siento, lo siento mucho! ¡Por favor, déjame ir!
NAR ___ Leo mira a Ratón. Él tiene su reputación que mantener. Si se supiera que la dejó libre, ¿quién le respetaría?

MOUSE - Thank you! I’m forever grateful.
LEO - And don’t tell anyone.
MOUSE - I promise!
They exit in opposite directions
Leo goes behind the tree, gets into the net and moves to the side of the tree
NAR___ The matter is settled and life goes on as usual until one morning Lion is trapped in a net. The more he tries to free himself the more he’s stuck.
LEO - I’m getting old. I should have seen this trap.
NAR___ Mouse keeps her promise, almost. She never bothers Lion again but checks up on him every so often, from a distance. It so happens she decides to do just that the morning he’s caught.
Mouse peeks from behind the curtain, sees Lion and walks onstage casually
MOUSE - Good morning Your Majesty! I didn’t expect to see you here.
RATÓN - ¿Que usted es amable?

Salen en direcciones opuestas.
Leo va detrás del árbol, se mete en la red y se mueve al lado del árbol.
NAR___ El asunto se arregla y la vida sigue como de costumbre hasta que una mañana Leo queda atrapado en una red. Cuanto más trata de liberarse, más atascado está.
LEO - Me hago mayor. Debería haber visto esta trampa.
NAR___ Ratón cumple su promesa, casi. Nunca vuelve a molestar a León, pero lo controla de vez en cuando, desde la distancia. Da la casualidad de que ella decide hacer precisamente eso la mañana en que lo capturan.
Ratón se asoma desde detrás de la cortina, ve a León y sube al escenario casualmente.
RATÓN - ¡Buenos días Su Majestad! No esperaba verle aquí.
NAR ___ Even with his life at stake, his ego keeps him from asking for help.
LEO - I was detained.
MOUSE - Well, I’ll be moving along, can’t miss breakfast. My favorite meal of the day. Have you had breakfast?
LEO - Not really.
MOUSE - I wish you a good day, Your Majesty.
LEO - Wait! Wait a minute.
MOUSE - Yes?
LEO - Come back.
MOUSE - Yes, Your Highness?
LEO - I may need a little help here. I may be a little bit… stuck.
NAR ___ Mouse sees the hunters coming and without waiting another minute she starts chewing on the ropes.
LEO - Quickly!
NAR ___ Mouse chews until her mouth bleeds.
LEO - Quickly!
NAR ___ Mouse cuts a hole just large enough for Leo’s body to fit through. Just as the hunters are about to reach the net, Leo jumps out and runs to the edge of the forest.
LEO - What are you waiting for? Get on my back!
NAR ___ Aun con su vida en juego, su ego le impide pedir ayuda.

The Hunters appear and look around. During the following argument they gather the net and walk off. They keep arguing until they are out of sight.
HUNTER ONE - How the devil did that lion escape from the net?
HUNTER TWO - Beats me.
HUNTER ONE - Are you sure you tied it down?
HUNTER TWO - Sure I’m sure! I’m not stupid.
HUNTER ONE - So. how did the lion get out?
HUNTER TWO - Are you calling me a liar? …….
The hunters leave still arguing
Lion and Mouse reappear
LEO - Thank you, Mouse! What can I do to repay you for saving my life?
MOUSE - Just your friendship, Your Highness.
LION - Agreed. Friends forever.
Lion and Mouse walk offstage
MORALITY ONE - Friends come in all sizes.
MORALITY TWO - Stay alert and you won’t get caught!
NAR ___ Ratón salta a su espalda y escapan antes de que los hombres puedan alcanzarlos.

ACT TWO
Rooster, Dog, Fox
Actors: Rooster, Dog, Fox
Props: For Fox - a jacket, a hat, a pocket watch, a table
For Dog and Rooster - a tree with a branch and a hole (a stool covered with fabric)
NAR ___ Rooster and Dog decide to leave the farm to see the world, and set off the next morning in high spirits.
ROO - What a beautiful day!
DOG - Absolutely! (Ab-so-lute-ly !)
NAR ___ At the end of the first day they are quite tired and search for a place to spend the night. It takes some time. Rooster needs a somewhere to perch while Dog needs a shelter.
Rooster and Dog search for a place to sleep (the stool)
NAR ___ They find just what they’re looking for - an old tree with a hole for Dog and a high branch for Rooster. They settle down for a good night’s rest.
NAR ___The next morning, quite early as was his habit, Rooster starts crowing.
ROO - Cock-a-doodle-doo! Cock-a-doodle-doo!
NAR ___ The noise wakes Fox, whose den isn’t far.

Gallo, Perro, Zorro
Actores: Gallo, Perro, Zorro

NAR ___ Al final del primer día están bastante cansados y buscan un lugar para pasar la noche. Tomó algún tiempo. Gallo necesita un lugar alto para posarse, mientras que Perro necesita un refugio.

NAR ___ Fox would have preferred the other way around but nonetheless accepts. He does not want to miss an opportunity to get near his prey.
FOX - I don’t want to trouble you, but if you insist.
ROO - Go around to the entrance and my butler will let you in.
Fox goes behind the tree trunk with a small leap of joy
NAR ___ Fox does as he’s told but is in for an unpleasant surprise.
ZORRO - ¿He oído bien? ¿He oído a Quiquiriqui? ¿En el bosque? ¡Qué fortuna!

Hare and Tortoise
Actors: King Leo, his Prime Minister Hedgehog, Hare, Tortoise, Bunny, Tort’s two sisters, Various animals from the forest
Props: crown, container for names, a basket for Bunny with a pie, a glass, a bottle of wine
NAR ___ Every year King Leo holds a much-anticipated race where the winner is awarded the personal protection of His Highness as well as tasty food for a whole year.
All the animals gather around the container to watch Prime Minister Hedgehog pull out the two pieces of paper with the names of the contestants. Hedgehog passes the papers to King Leo.
KING LEO - I declare that Mister Hare and Miss Tortoise are to be this year’s contestants!
Hare and Tortoise bow facing the audience. Hare does jumping exercises
NAR ___ Because Tortoise is a old and kind nobody laughs, but everyone has the same thought. There is no way she can beat Hare and they wonder why she even puts her name in for the competition.
SISTER ONE - You’re too old!
SISTER TWO -You’re too slow!
SISTER ONE - You must tell the king that you changed your mind.
SISTER TWO - Seriously Torty, everyone is laughing at you.
ACTOS TRES
Liebre y Tortuga
Actores: El Rey Leo, su Primer Ministro Erizo, Liebre, Tortuga (Tort), Conejito, las dos hermanas de Tort, Varios animales del bosque
Atrezzo: corona, recipiente para los nombres, cesta para el conejito con una tarta, un vaso, una botella de vino
NAR ___ Todos los años Rey Leo celebra una carrera muy esperada en la que el ganador recibe la protección personal de Su Alteza, así como comida sabrosa durante todo un año.
Todos los animales se reúnen alrededor del contenedor para ver cómo el Primer Ministro Erizo saca los dos trozos de papel con los nombres de los concursantes. Erizo pasa los papeles al Rey Leo.
NAR ___ Solo se permiten dos participantes, elegidos una hora antes de la competencia. Esta vez, los dos competidores son Liebre y Tortuga.
LEO - Declaro que Liebre y Tortuga serán los concursantes de este año.
Liebre y Tortuga se inclinan de cara al público. La liebre hace ejercicios de salto.
NAR ___ Porque Tortuga es vieja y amable nadie se ríe, pero todos tienen el mismo pensamiento. No hay forma de que ella pueda vencer a Hare y se preguntan por qué incluso pone su nombre en la competencia.

NAR ___ Tortoise doesn’t answer and slowly makes her way to the starting line.
NAR ___ Hare is beside himself with glee. He’s a show-off and does a little dance while everyone waits for Tortoise. When the two competitors are in position, the King's Prime Minister shouts....
HEDGEHOG - Go!
NAR ___ Hare is bouncing around like a drunken arrow while Tortoise takes her first, painfully slow, step.
Hare races offstage left followed slowly by Tortoise
The sisters cover their eyes
The rest of the assembly goes offstage right
When the stage is empty Hare comes back from the right and stops to rest
Bunny comes in from the left
Tortoise returns onstage from the right
NAR ___ Hare uses so much of his energy goofing off he’s fairly tired.
HARE - I have plenty of time before old Torty catches up, I’ll just rest here by the stream for a minute.
Hare doses under the tree far left. Bunny walks by with a basket
NAR ___ Hare wakes and smells something tasty. His cousin Bunny was just back from market with a freshly baked pie.
HARE - Bunny! My favorite cousin, what a surprise to see you here. What have you got in the basket?
NAR ___ Tortuga no contesta y se dirige lentamente hacia la línea de partida.
NAR ___ Liebre está fuera de sí de alegría. Es un fanfarrón y baila un poco antes de la carrera mientras todos esperan a Tortuga. Cuando los dos competidores están en posición, el Primer Ministro del Rey grita.…

NAR ___ Liebre gasta tanta energía haciendo el tonto que está bastante cansado.
LIEBRE - Tengo tiempo de sobra antes de que la vieja Torty me alcance, descansaré aquí junto al arroyo un minuto.
Liebre dosifica bajo el árbol más a la izquierda. Conejita pasa con una cesta.
NAR ___ Liebre se despierta y huele algo sabroso. Su prima Conejita acaba de volver del mercado con una tarta recién horneada.
LIEBRE - ¡Conejita! Mi prima favorita, que sorpresa verte por aquí. ¿Qué tienes en la cesta?
NAR ___ Hare is not Bunny’s favorite cousin, at all. She thinks he’s a show-off and a jerk, and does not like the way he makes fun of her friend Tort. He needs to be taught a lesson in humility.
BUNNY - Cousin Hare, I thought you were in the race.
HARE - I am, but I have plenty of time. I smell pie.
BUNNY - I bought an apple pie, would you like some?
HARE - Oh yes, I’m starving.
NAR ___ Bunny cuts him a slice, which he eats in one gulp. Then she gives him a second slice, then a third, then she pours him a glass of wine. Filled with pie and wine, Hare falls asleep.
BUNNY - That should keep you out of the race for a while.
Bunny leaves. Miss Tortoise slowly walks past Hare, still asleep
NAR ___ In the meantime Miss Tortoise is gaining ground. She’d been secretly preparing all year for this race. She chuckles when she sees Hare by the stream in a deep sleep, and keeps a steady pacw.
Tortoise walks off stage left while the other animals gather to the right, talking amongst themselves, “Where is Hare?” “He should be here by now.” …
Tortoise comes back onstage from the left. The animals are cheering her on.
NAR ___ Liebre no es en absoluto el primo favorito de Conejita. Le parece un fanfarrón y un imbécil y no le gusta cómo se burla de su amiga Tort. Necesita una lección de humildad.
CONEJITA - Primo Liebre, pensé que estabas en la carrera.
LIEBRE - Si estoy, pero tengo mucho tiempo. Huelo pastel.

NAR ___ Imagine everyone’s surprise when Miss Tortoise appears. With one last sprint she reaches the finish line. King Leo is quite pleased to see her win and with great ceremony places the crown on her head.

NAR ___ Hare hears all the noise and opens his eyes. The sun is already low in the sky.

HARE - No! I’m the fast one, that’s my crown!

Fox and the Grapes
Actors: Fox, Bunny
Props: For Fox - a newspaper, a handkerchief
For Bunny - a basket, a cup for her cappuccino.

NAR ___ Fox is hot. He is tired, hungry and cranky. All day he's been looking for work. He sits down to rest for a minute in the shade and opens his newspaper to the 'Classified Ads'. Finding nothing, he throws the paper on the bench and leans back to take a nap.
NAR ___ That’s when he sees the grapes, hanging from a vine right above his head.
FOX - My goodness, look at those grapes! I'll bet I can reach them.
NAR ___ He reaches as high as he can but the grapes are too far. He tries with his newspaper.
NAR ___ Still too far.
NAR ___ He puts the paper down, steps back a few paces and jumps.
NAR ___ Nothing.
NAR ___ He steps back even further, runs and jumps as high as he can.

ZORRO - ¡Dios mío, mira esas uvas! Apuesto a que puedo alcanzarlos.
NAR ___ Llega lo más alto que puede, pero las uvas están demasiado lejos. Lo intenta con su periódico.
NAR ___ Todavía demasiado lejos.
NAR ___ Deja el periódico, retrocede unos pasos y se levanta de un salto.
NA ___ Nada.
NAR ___ Retrocede aún más, corre y salta lo más alto que puede.
NAR ___ Nothing doing.
Bunny walks by and sees Fox jumping. She looks at her watch, puts down her basket, sits, picks up the newspaper, sips her cappuccino and observes him.
NAR ___ Fox is so absorbed he doesn’t notice Bunny.
Fox is ready to kick the tree when…
BUNNY - What’s up, honey? Can’t reach those grapes? They sure look tasty.
Slowly Fox turns his head to look at Bunny, lowers his foot, slowly takes out a handkerchief, wipes his forehead and sits down.
FOX - They aren’t ripe enough. I wouldn’t have eaten them anyway.
BUNNY - Really? To me they look just ripe enough to eat, maybe if you tried one more time? I can help you and we can share.
FOX - I don’t think so.
NAR ___ Replies Fox. He doesn’t think anyone can be smarter than he is.
FOX - I have to leave, I have an appointment.
BUNNY - Suit yourself. You don’t want to miss your appointment.
Fox takes a few steps and turns to look at Bunny.
She waves, he waves back and leaves.
NAR ___ En vano.

Lentamente Zorro gira la cabeza para mirar a Conejita, baja el pie, saca lentamente un pañuelo, se limpia la frente y se sienta
ZORRO - No están lo suficientemente maduros. De todas formas no me las habría comido.
CONEJITA -¿De verdad? A mi me parecen lo suficientemente maduros para comer, ¿quizás si lo intentaras una vez más? Puedo ayudarte y podemos compartir.
ZORRO - No lo creo.
NAR ___ Responde Zorro. No cree que nadie pueda ser más listo que él.
ZORRO - Tengo que irme, tengo una cita.
CONEJITA - Haz lo que quieras. No querrá perderse su cita.
Zorro da unos pasos y se vuelve para mirar a Conejita
Ella saluda, él le devuelve el saludo y se va
NAR ___ Bunny waits until he leaves and then shakes the tree.
NAR___ Down come the grapes!
BUNNY - Delicious!
Fox, having forgotten his newspaper, returns
FOX - What? Stop, those are my grapes!
BUNNY - I beg your pardon? You say they aren’t ripe. Good day my friend.
Bunny puts the grapes in her basket, picks up her cappuccino, and leaves.
NAR ___ Fox watches sadly as she walks off with the grapes.
He sits down and puts his head in his hands. This is not a good day at all.
MORALITY ONE - Do not belittle what you cannot achieve.
MORALITY TWO - Sometimes it’s best to share!

Fox and Crow
Actors: Fox, Crow (or a puppet)
Prop: a cheese (a quarter of a big yellow sponge)
Crow - or the puppet - is perched with a cheese in his mouth.
NAR ___ Crow, perched on a tree, is very pleased with himself. That morning he’d found a nice cheese just the way he likes it, not too hard, not too soft, not too stinky. Yes, he is definitely pleased with himself.
Fox passes and stops suddenly
NAR ___ Fox, passing by, smells the savory cheese.
NAR ___ He looks up, and smiles.
FOX - My good friend Crow.
NAR ___ He says in a pleasant way.
FOX - You are so very handsome! If your voice is as beautiful as your feathers, you are the most magnificent of all animals in these woods.
NAR ___ Hearing these words Crow is filled with joy and decides to please his friend Fox with a sonata.
Crow takes a deep breath, opens his mouth, and loses the cheese
NAR ___ Crow sees that he's been tricked and watches, helpless, as his cheese falls to the ground.
ACTO QUINTO
Zorro y Cuervo

ACT SIX
The Beehive
Actors: Barney, his wife Wilma, Puppeteers holding poles with bees attached on strings (they may appear on stage dressed the same)
Props: a beehive, a blanket, a stick
Barney wanders aimlessly around the stage
NAR___ Barney is a rather lazy bear, always searching for ways not to have to work.
NAR___ He is hanging out in the woods looking for something to eat when, on the other side of the creek, he eyes a bush full of blackberries.
BARNEY – Perfect! I’ll take a swim, then I’ll eat some berries and then I’ll rest in the shade.
NAR___ As he makes his way towards the bush he noticed a large beehive on the side of the road.
BARNEY - Where there’s a hive there’s honey!
NAR___ Barney loves honey above everything else, and approaches the hive.
NAR___ A bee standing guard sees him and buzzes angrily around his face. Outraged, he waves his arms and runs after her. The other bees watch him running in circles and think he looks like a fool.
BARNEY - I’ll teach you! I’ll show you who the boss is!
ACTO SEIS
La Colmena
Actores: Barney, su mujer Wilma, Titiriteros que sujetan palos con abejas atadas con hilos (pueden aparecer en escena vestidos igual)
Atrezzo: una colmena, una toalla, una manta
Barney deambula sin rumbo por el escenario
NAR___ Barney es un oso bastante perezoso, siempre buscando formas de no tener que trabajar.
NAR___ Está vagando por el bosque en busca de algo para comer cuando, al otro lado del arroyo, ve un arbusto lleno de moras.
BARNEY - ¡Perfecto! Me daré un baño, luego comeré algunas bayas y después descansaré a la sombra.

BARNEY - Donde hay una colmena hay miel.

NAR___ He is the trespasser but he’s angry and plots to tear down the hive.
NAR___ Barney isn’t very smart. He finds a branch and takes a few steps towards the hive.
NAR___ What happens next is predictable. The worker bees in the clover field nearby are alerted and an angry swarm heads fast and furious straight towards his head.
Barney uses the branch to swat at the bees but he sees that he is seriously outnumbered. He drops the branch, turns and runs
NAR___ Barney runs towards the creek followed by the swarm of bees.
He jumps into the water
BARNEY - Wilma! Help!
NAR___ His wife is not inclined to sympathize. She loves her husband but he’s lazy.
NAR___ He needs to be taught a lesson, and Wilmagoes about her business as the bees stand guard at the edge of the pond.
BARNEY - Wilma! Help me!
NAR___ Finally, the sun sets and the bees go home.
WILMA - You can come out now, Barney
Barney comes out of the water and Wilma hands him a towel
NAR___ Barney, shivering and hungry, promises never to bother the bees again.
MORALITY ONE - To get angry serves no purpose.
MORALITY TWO - Do not take what belongs to others.
NAR___ Es el intruso pero está enojado y planea derribar la colmena.
NAR___ Barney no es muy inteligente. Encuentra una rama y da unos pasos hacia la colmena.

The Frog and The Bulls

NAR ___ Sanaa is in the habit of going alone to the far end of the marsh to meditate, and notices that the bulls on the other side are fighting.
Sounds of angry bulls
NAR ___ This is not unusual. There are always skirmishes on that side as all the bulls want a bigger spot near the water. Normally things calm down but Sanaa finds that the arguments are more frequent.
The bulls are quiet
NAR ___ Sanaa goes to find her best friend Thelma.
SANAA - I think the bulls are getting more aggressive.
THELMA - They’re always fighting, I wouldn’t worry.
SANAA - I don’t know, it seems to me it’s getting worse.
NAR ___They hide near the bulls who seem even angrier than usual and, worse still, are getting closer to the frog community.

THELMA - You’re right, Sanaa. They are much angrier than usual. We have to warn the others.
NAR ___ They go to warn the other frogs.
ACTOS SIETE
La Rana y Los Toros
Actores: Sanaa, Thelma, Comunidad rana, Toros (oculto)
Atrezzo: para la comunidad rana : sombrillas, toallas de playa...
NAR ___ Sanaa tiene la costumbre de ir sola al otro extremo del pantano para meditar, y se da cuenta de que los toros del otro lado se están peleando.

FROG 3 - We’re doing fine here, stop worrying.
FROG 4 - Get married, have kids….
NAR ___ Some frogs agree there’s a problem and though they do much talking about it they keep doing things the same as always. Sanaa and Thelma decide to leave.

NAR ___ And not a moment too soon. They barely start their journey when they hear a loud noise like thunder, except there are no clouds.
Loud noises - pots and pans are banged and the table is moved violently. The frogs in the marsh run off in all directions. The Narrators must speak loudly.
NAR ___ The bulls are on a rampage! They have been squabbling all morning under the hot sun to suddenly gallop into the marsh in their frenzy to control the new territory.
The noise suddenly stops.
NAR ___ Only then did the frogs realize how foolish they were not to be prepared.
MORALITY ONE - Change isn’t easy but it’s better than getting trampled.
MORALITY TWO - Words mean nothing without an action to back them.

Cat and The Mice
Actors: Cat, Ally, Benny, Mice Elder, the Mouse community
Props: Two backpacks
Cat is sleeping on a corner, half hidden
NAR___ To the dismay of the mouse community a cat has been introduced onto the property to guard the food, and as the weeks pass the mice are getting hungrier and hungrier.
NAR___ They can go out and hunt for their meal but they are used to finding food in the house and prefer to complain about the cat.
NAR___ An Emergency Session is called by the Mouse Elder.
All the mice sit except for the Elder
ELDER - Attention, please. Attention! We are here today to find a solution to the cat problem. Our supplies are low and time is running out.
NAR___ The mice agree that it is time to do something. They form committees and subcommittees and plan a date for their next meeting.
The mice divide in half, then again in half, and then leave the stage
Ally and Benny stay one side
NAR___ The two youngest mice, Ally and Benny, are not invited to be part of a committee. All the mice are so busy complaining and arguing no one takes notice of them. Best friends, they are always going off on adventures together.

Gato y Los Ratones

NAR___ Everyone thinks it’s a grand idea.
MICE – Yes, a genial idea!
NAR___ Until the Elder asks…
ELDER - Where do we find a dog?
MICE - Uhhh…
MOUSE TWO - We can dig a hole so the cat will fall in.
NAR___ Says another group. Everyone agrees.
MICE - Good job! Excellent! Well done!
NAR___ Until the Elder asks…
ELDER - Who among us can dig a hole deep enough so the cat can’t jump out?
MICE - Uhhh…
MOUSE THREE: We can put a bell around his neck, so we can hear him when he comes.
ELDER: And who will put the bell around his neck?
NAR___ Recorren el campo en busca de comida y descubren cosas como el pantano, donde se hacen amigos de las ranas que se han mudado allí recientemente.

ALLY - We have an idea.
NAR___ Nobody is inclined to listen to her, everyone is too busy arguing.
BENNY - It’s a good idea!
NAR___ Nothing doing. Nobody wants to listen to the two young mice. Ali and Benny decide they’d seen enough, and leave the meeting to hang out with the frogs.
NAT___ Meantime all the racket wakes the cat from a deep and pleasant snooze. He is not all pleased. Quietly he sneaks up on the group and, without notice, pounces on the stupid mice wreaking havoc in their midst.

MORALITY - It is one thing to have an idea, it is altogether another to make it work.
MORALITY - Hanging around and complaining has no purpose.
